Abstract

Healthcare‑associated infections represent a significant global problem, with high rates both in developed and developing countries and with serious repercussions in terms of morbidity, mortality, costs, and antimicrobial resistance. In this context, the training of nursing students assumes an essential role in infection prevention, especially regarding hand hygiene, considered the single most effective preventive measure. The integration of mobile educational technologies, such as tablets and smartphones, in the teaching‑learning process has shown relevant benefits, namely in improving access to information, in the possibility of repeating content, and in student engagement in learning. Among these tools, Speedy Audit stands out, an application that allows monitoring, auditing and training of hand hygiene techniques according to the five moments of the World Health Organization. Studies show that this app is practical, economical, saves time, improves data quality, and enables immediate feedback. Its incorporation into nursing education promotes student autonomy and fosters active learning and a culture of safety, with benefits for future clinical practice.
